[mathlearn] sharing files
Posted:
Feb 13, 2001 8:08 AM

When setting up this discussion group, I chose to not allow email attachments, as a) they can potentially carry viruses, b) a particular attachment may be of interest to only a small number of people on the list, and c) it costs folks $$ to download large files.
Michael Sheppard has alerted me to the fact that there is a filesharing facility for mathlearn at yahoogroups. This is the preferred way to share files, rather than attaching them to emails. If you want to share a file, upload the file to mathlearn at yahoogroups, alert the list about its existence, and each list member can decide if they want to download it or not.
All members of the list can use this facility, though you may need to register with yahoogroups first (not sure about this).
To test this facility, I have posted a file vaguely related to my recent post on teaching probability, which in fact came originally from Paul Sutton, about a really excellent way to introduce statistics. I asked for the list to be notified about the upload, but I'm not things are working as they should. Could some of you download the file and let me know if you had problems.
Potentially this is a very valuable feature.
Cheers
