I agree that the Saxon constructivist idea is a stretch.
However, maybe your student is confused by the new hands-on
approach in Saxon's latest elem series. Of course it is
scripted but his view was that all the children in the
specific grade level would receive the same instruction
regardless of which teacher taught them that year.

Perahps some students think "hands-on" teaching strategies and
"constructivist" views are one in the same....???
