Kent...my experience backs up your feeling 100%. Group work is great, but I too feel that if a teacher is not lecturing half the time, there won't be much learning going on during group work. Students need guidance or they flounder (at least this is what I have seen in my Algebra I courses that I have taught during my 22 years of teaching)
