Karen and all,

No comment on the first part of your message. (I'll hash and rehash until
the cows come home). My favorite fraction manipulative has to be Cuisenaire
rods, but my overall favorite model is Pattern Blocks. I use them for
fractions, place value, and of course spatial visualization and a host of
geometry topics (angular measure, area, perimeter, etc.) I like tangrams
also, but personally find the Pattern Blocks more flexible.
