Pi to Many Places

Date: Sun, 27 Nov 1994 16:55:42 -0800 (PST)
From: Ryan Fleming

Dear Dr. Math,

I have a problem for you. Can you and your group of math professors tell
me what "Pi" is out to 200 places? And if that isn't too hard maybe you can
tell me what it is out to 300 places. We'll hope to hear from you really soon.

Thanks,
Ryan Fleming

Hello there, Ryan!

Sure, we can do lots of places. We've got a computer here that's called
"Spiderwoman" that can give us Pi to as many decimal places as we want.
We just tell it how many. What's more, at home I have a book called "The
History of Pi" or something, and in the back it lists the first 10,000 or
100,000 decimal places of Pi. It doesn't make for very interesting reading,
though.

Anyway, here are the first 1500 decimal places of Pi. Enjoy! There will be
a quiz, so you'll want to have them memorized.
