Order without a planner: play a Java game about a world consisting of locations that may or may not be occupied by life. At each step, life persists in any location where it is also present in two or three of the eight neighboring locations, and otherwise disappears (from loneliness or overcrowding). Life is born in any empty location for which there is life in three of the eight neighboring locations. What would life look like in such a world? Would it die out? Persist as a disordered, ever-changing blob? Create stable, discrete entities? Generate particular forms in the absence of a planner, an architect, a blueprint?
