NCTM San Diego
Presentation Summary

This is the summary of a presentation given at the 74th Annual NCTM Meeting, 25-28 April 1996, San Diego, CA.

Using the Geometer's Sketchpad, students can investigate geometric concepts inductively, make conjectures, and then frame deductive arguments to prove their conjectures. How? The key to proof in geometry is insight. And teachers can guide students to that insight with a simple question. "Why?" Dynamic Geometry is the perfect environment in which to pursue the "why with insight."Steven Rasmussen (Key Curriculum Press, Berkeley, CA)
