Other Review (Not based on classroom experience)Reviewer: LZ, Dec 6 2006 10:45PM |
Review based on: I found it from Math Tools email of the Newsletter. I'd like to recommend to students I tutor and to teachers I mentor. |
Appropriate for: introduction to a concept, practice of skills and understandings, applications of a concept or technique |
Other Comments: I would like this much better without the "cross multiplication" explanation in the math section. The activity has the potential to allow students to discover the true meaning of proportion.
Suggestion: It is easy to get too many by accident on the way back home. This could be an advantage in making it more challenging for students to strategize and navigate, or it could be frustrating to some. Perhaps an option of allowing the ameba to spit out some would meet the needs of a wider range of students. |

What hardware expertise does one need to learn to use the resource? use of the arrow keys and spacebar |
What extra things must be done to make it work? none |

Explanation: I first tried to drag the ameba, but then remembered seeing the arrow buttons in the instructions. |
