MathKit Lessons in a "Teaching Methods" courseIn our "methods" course for prospective secondary mathematics teachers, we emphasize presentations by students. These presentations are varied in nature, and include demonstrations of educational software packages. This year we are increasing the emphasis on educational software by requiring pre-service teachers to evaluate existing MathKit lessons, and to develop new MathKit lessons, for use in the secondary mathematics classroom. (MathKit is a library of software tools which facilitate the creation and use of interactive mathematics texts in the form of paginated hypertext documents.) The speaker will provide examples of MathKit related projects completed by pre-service teachers. |
