Data Analysis, Statistics and Probability Summary

Tuesday, July 9, 2002

We started the session with a playing card simulation of a discrimination question. We will collect the data and work with it later.

Marie summarized the 'product' that we will be supporting throughout the coming year. We will be using the PCMI Problem and communicate by way of the PCMI Discussion site. We will partner members who will be teaching similar classes--Carol with David H., Beverly with David K., Patricia with Cheryl, and Marie with Lynette. Mentoring directions were given by Suzanne as she guided us through the process. She will type them up so we will have them for future reference.

We then went to the lab and practiced mentoring and working in the Discussion site (replying and posting new information). All members seemed to adapt quite easily to the format.

Beverly discovered that the Paint program can be used to drop graphics from FATHOM into a solution for the PCMI Problem. Her directions on how to use this program are given in the Discussion area of the PCMI website.
