Megan Booth, grade 10, Fairfield HS

Quilt has symmetry, lines, angles, tessellating patterns.
Patterned bowl has symmetry, circles, angles.
Kitchen floor has tessellations.

**********
Phuong Le, grade 9, Fairfield HS

Streets because they are not only streets but also parallel lines
that never meet.
Roofs because most roofs in New England have a triangular shape,
therefore they let snow slide off easily instead of staying on top of
the roof.
A bush because it can be shaped into a circle, square, or anything
you like.

**********
Carly Tubbs, grade 9, Fairfield HS

The three most geometric shapes in my house are a human face,
a spider web, and a book. I chose a human face because geometry,
in one definition, is shape or design. Shapes make up the nose, the
eyes, and mouth -- all figures. The figures make up one symmetrical
figure. A spider web was chosen because the strands are just lines
apart, but together form shapes and these shapes form larger figures
and so on. I chose a book not only because it is a prism and is filled
with lines and shapes, but because the written lines and shapes form
other imaginative lines and shapes.

**********
Aaron Hagel, grade 9, Fairfield HS

To me geometric is a shape that has a real lot of lines. Therefore, I
would have to say the most geometric shape is the design of the
outer shell of the house. Inside, I would have to say the tiling in the
bathrooms is pretty geometrically impressive. The actual rectangles
aren't, but if you take a look from the ceiling, it's good. The third best
thing is the windows, because it symbolizes geometry with its one
big grid with the wooden lines.

**********
Liz Fuchs, grade 9, Fairfield HS

A diamond -- it is very geometric because it is made up of angles,
straight lines, and triangles.
Salt -- it is crystalline so it also has many geometric characteristics,
like angles, straight lines, and triangles.
Snowflake -- a snowflake is an amazing geometric object. It, as
well, is made up of many unique geometric characteristics.

**********
Steve Kubiner, grade 9, Fairfield HS

Everything is geometric. Some examples in my home are my
refrigerator, my dome shaped ceiling, and my salad in the fridge.
My refrigerator has a rectangular, 3-D shape. The ceiling has a
spherical dome shape, and the salad has an irregular unique
shape.

**********
Mike Trefry, grade 9, Fairfield HS

A compact disc or CD. It is perfectly round and has no mistakes
in it.
My room. It has right angles in all of the corners and has flat
surfaces sort of like planes.
Street signs because they are in geometric shapes.

**********
Ed Blagriff, grade 9, Fairfield HS

Cue ball -- perfect sphere
Stereo speaker -- cube
Trail markers -- triangles

**********
Kyle Halligan, grade 9, Fairfield HS

Lamp -- This is important because the entire lamp has many
different cylinders and circles that show how there can be many
different sized cylinders and circles.
Stereo -- this object is also very "geometric" because it has many
different shapes and sized buttons to show what a variety of
quadrilaterals there really are.
Cat -- My cat is also an important "geometric" object because she
has many different line segments (hair) which takes up another
part of geometry, endpoints, midpoints, and points, points, points!

**********
Matt Tubin, grade 9, Fairfield HS

Any building (i.e. house, schools) are usually built geometrically.
All the sides are usually geometric shapes, and the bricks, etc.
Computer screen -- the pixels are points on a line (in the screen).
Grass -- each blade of grass is a segment.

**********
Sara Pappas, grade 10, Fairfield HS

Arched windows have many angles and curves.
Stop sign is made of angles.
TV tray has lots of angles, visible plane, triangles (where the
legs come together), and intersecting lines.

**********
Eric Bundonis, grade 9, Fairfield HS

My TV because it is a square and it has many little circular
and square buttons on it.
My math book because it is also a square and it has all angles
inside of it.
My fireplace because it is rectangular and it has all different sized
bricks around it.

The following grade 9 students from Fairfield HS also participated:

Smita Chawla, Monica Coords, Brean Cunningham, Mark Dwyer,
Robert Eng, Kelly Kraus, Heather Lambert, Moira Lewis, Sacha
Meyrick, Kelly Nash, David Nassi, Adam Price, Brian Rondeau,
Dana Scalisi, Bilal Seyal, Rebecca Simpson, Ashley Tillson

Some of their suggested geometric objects include:

checkerboard, a window screen, Bilal's neighbor Tim who teaches
geometry, paperweight, tissue box, roll of lifesavers, dumbbell,
light bulbs, doorknobs, tennis balls, table, telephone poles, pillows,
picture frames, tapes, mirrors, and a deck of cards.

Subject: POW Sept.

One of the most geometric objects are games. The reason we chose
games is because games have rules that we need to create geometic designs
and you have many pieces to make the game whole. Another geometric object
is an ice cream cone because it has many diffrent demensions. Last of all
we chose the planet Earth because of it's many diffrent regions and has
many diffrent shapes and measurements.

Question: In our neighborhood the most geometric figures are tables (oval and
square), televisions (square), and windows (oval, square, rectangles,
octogons). Theses things are geometrical because, they represent some
of the most common shapes in geometry.

Sandra Rodriquez and Mayra Diaz

Question: The three most geometric objects are: the roof of my house, my
backyard, and the light on the top of my lightpost. I chose the roof of my
house because it has a wierd geometric shape to it. It is shaped like a
triangle and a rectangle in one. I chose my backyard because it used to
be used for horses and it had a wierd geometric shape to it. I choose the
light on top of the lightpole because it is like a cirle, rectangle, and
a square all in one.

Ebone' King and Eric Brown

accomplish in a certain time period.
2. A book of logic problems. They help you in the skills of
    elimination.
3. A crystal sphere that glows when you put a lit candle in it.
You can find the volume & mass of the sphere.

My house because the roof is so many different shapes.
My bicycle because the wheels are round and there are straight bars, and
curvy bars.
The portable fan because it has squares, circles, straight lines,
and curvy lines.
Wendy Burnett and Kim Jackson

*********************************************

Question: The three most geometric shapes in my house and neighorhood
would be bicycle, bed, and TV. I choose bicycle because a bicycle has
two tires on it, just like two circles. I choose my bed because my bed's
shape looks like a retriangle.and finally I choose TV because it looks like
a square box.

James Lin

Question: The three most geometric shapes in our house or neighborhood would
be a house, stop sign, and a can of soup. They all have different shapes and
sizes. The roof of the house is a pyramid and the bottom of the house is
the shape of a cube. The stop sign shape is a octagon. The can of soup is
a cylinder shape.

Kim Velvick and Raine Ortiz

*********************************************

1. A calendar because it has many numbers, also because it
contains shapes. It has to do with the days, and months
in a year.

2. A television because it is squared, also it shows many
information that is occuring around the world. It has
educational and entertaining programs.

3. A phone because it is something that is three dimentional
and contains numbers, letters, and squared shaped buttons.
It also gets you talking to many people around the world.

Nathaniel Prevost:

One of the things that I think is geometric is a car. It's geometric becaus
it is very complex with a lot of shapes too.
Another thing I think is geometric is a tv. It geometric because it is
square.
The last thing I think is geometic is my brain because geometry is mental.

Sarah Fisher:

One of the most geometric things in my house is my dad's guitar. It is
geometric because the strings represent lines.
Another geometric object is my brothers hair. It is geometric because
he forms it into many shapes.
The last geometric object is a stop sign. It is geometric because of it's
shape.

*********************************************

Question: The three most geometric objects in my house and neighborhood
would be my bicycle, my ceiling fan, and our basketball court. The reason
I picked my bicycle is because it has two cicular wheels, a body made out of
cylinder pipe, and many gears with a chain that work together to make the
bicycle move. I chose my ceiling fan because it has rectangular shaped
propelers that are turned by a circular shaped box that controls it. I
also chose my basketball court because it deal with throwing a circular
object into a hoop on a half circle shaped back board.

Rick Hummel

*********************************************

Question: The three most geometric items around our house's

my name is Rickey Lee and I think that the list rules on my bedroom door
is because I follow the rules by each one.I also think my T.V. is because
images and shapes that is form.

My name is Isaac Nelson and I think that my satellite in my yard because
it is a funny shape and electronic beams go back and forth from other
satellites.

Question: The three most geometric objects are the archway into my house, the
shape of my pool and my chandaleir. The archway of my house is goemetric
because of the intrakit design involved in the constuction. It has many
rectangles, squares, diamonds, and half circles to form the arch. The shape
of my pool is goemetric because of the lines and curves and ninty degree
angles. Also my chandaleir has different shapes such as diamonds, oval,
circles, rectangles, squares and many other shapes.

Veronica Murillo and Anabel Arambula

*********************************************

Question: In our neighborhood one of the most geometric things are the houses
themselves.

To build them you have to follow certain rules just like in geometry. The
houses also have many different shapes to them and shapes are an important
thing in geometry. Another thing is a blender because it has many shapes
to it and it mixes things up the way geometry does to your head. The last
thing are walls of the house because they're one step to making a house and
in geometry there are many steps to solving a problem.

Tiffany Solko and Kelli Haskel

Question: The three most geometric objects are.....

I would have to say that one of the most geometric objects in my
life is my daily schedule because I always have some type of problem
to solve with my schedule from being a crash course. You always have to
solve problems in geometry and my schedule itself is a big problem that
needs to be solved.

The second most geometric shape in my home life would be my family
relationships I mean I have about 4 relationships with my parents, and
in geometry you always have to find out the relationship of the problem
and the answer of the problem.

The last and final most geometric shape would have to be traffic
signals because they are gemetric in two ways one is that they tell
people what to do by color and symbols and in geometry you learn what
your supposed to do to answer the problem by using symbols. The second
reason that traffic signals are geometric is their shape, their shape
has parallel lines, vertical lines like the ones used in geometry.

Angela Crabtree

Question: The three most geometrical objects in my house are....

The most geometrical object in my house is my Bible. In life
there are problems as there are in geometry. In geometry you
have to find solutions to these problems, you find these solu
-tions out from your teacher or your book. In life you find
out some of these solutions in the Bible.

Geometetry is an important foundation in math as the
foundation of your house is. It supports your math skills,
as the foundation of your house supports it and every thing
in it.

The square is the most important shape of all. It is
the building block of everything, the foundation of a house is
square, blocks are square etc.

Question: The three most geometric items around my house would be:1. Our
mailbox around the corner because it's not just for us,it has a lot of
little slots for different families and it has many different shapes on
and around it.2.My boombox.I consider it to be geometric because all the
little nodules on it are all different shapes and when you put your tape
or Cd in it, the nodules turn until you get the music quality you derire.
3.The blinds in our front room.I consider them to be geometric because
they are cut up.My mom was trying to be unique and she cut them up.They
are all different shapes and colors and thats what I consider to be
geometric!

Question: the three most geometric figures in the household region are:

-cube-bedroom, box, cupboard, picture frames, etc.
-cylinder-cans, other containers, etc.
-rectangle-yards, patios, rooms of houses, etc.

we chose these three articles because they seemed to be the most common items of
geometric form in our houses.

we suppose the title "geometric" means any sort of polygonic shape, and that
"geometry" is the study of geometric items.

Will Stiern and Matt Rench

Question: The most geometrical objects in my neighborhood would probably be;

1.The two story house thats around the corner because it has a lot of
windows, doors, and unique features that make the house diaginals,
  squares.
2.The fire department also has a lot of shapes that make it very
  geometrical.It has windows,doors,sliding pole.
3.My house also has a lot of geometrical shapes. It has windows, doors,
sliding doors,a fireplace and different other features.

Maria Correa

Question: After long periods of continued thought, we have reached the conclusion
that our screen on our screen door defines geometry because it has the
resemblence of a grid on an x,y axis on a graph.

I would have to say that a rubik's cube also defines geometry because,
well, it has many squares and cubes.

My couch because we saw a picture of a shape resembleing it.

Matt Rengers and Issac Garcia

*********************************************

Question: The three things that we would like to submit that are geometric would
be

(1.)the cabinets are geometric because they have a shape of square and
have a base, height, and a depth.
(2.)the shower is geometric because the tiles are made of squares that
make up one big rectangle, and the tiles could have a pattern that make
    different shapes.
(3.)the last thing in my house that I believe to have a geometrical shape
is my computer because it contains different shapes that work together to
    make it run.

Natalie Sharp and Dannette Deal

*********************************************

Question: 1. Computer
          2. Dishwasher
          3. Stopsign

The reason we chose a computer is because it has a large quanity
of line segments and angles. It also contains these shapes: square, rectangle,
and circles. The reason we chose the dishwasher is because it has lots of
lines, cyclinders, circles, squares, cubes, rectangles, and rectangular
prisims. Our reasoning for choosing a stopsign is that it is an octagon,
it contains curves, and it has dimension.

Amanda Parks and Amanda Grombly

*********************************************

Question: My first geometric figure can run and jump. My geometric figure is a
weiner dog. I think it is a unique geometric shape because it has a lot of
different shapes and deminsions. It has a very long body and tail.
My other shape are my shoes. They have different shapes everyday.
My last shapes are chips. There are many different shapes of chips,
like Fritos they are short and curly but when you get Doritos they
are big triangles.

Sam Morris

*********************************************

Question: 1).Toaster because it is a rectangle and has two more rectangles on the
top of it.

2). Soda can because it has a circle at each end and also the body of the
can is a rectanguler-circle.

3). A door because it is a rectangle and it has a circle as the door knob.

Jennifer Apperson and Erik Fosbus

*********************************************

Question: Geometric Surroundings

My house in it's whole is geometric. The roofing is triangular,
the foundation is rectangular, the walls are squared (each of them
consists of a 90 degree angle). The closet is (unfortunately) the shape
of a box. My swimming pool is a 360 degree circle. There is also the
relationship between me and my family. As in Geometry, we try to find
a relationship between two objects. Another thing that I have in my
house that has to do with Geometry is Guess and Check. We always think
of some ways to repair things such as the toaster and then we have to try
it out to see if it was the right thing to do,and if it wasn't,we try
again until we get it right. These are just a few of the things we have
in our house that are Geometric.

Janelle Green and Tiffany Rocha

*********************************************

Question: 1) HOUSE:
In the house there are many right triangles for example your roof
and flooring have many right triangles. It has many differant
dimensions for example all the windows and doors have dimensions.
To come up with the actual house you have to have and use many
differant theorem like Pythagorean Theorem.

2) COOLER AND HEATER:
They are related to a graph because of the tempature. When you
turn on the cooler the tempature gets cooler, it falls. When you
turn the heat on it rises as it gets hotter.

3) POOL:
Pool because it shows volume. The volume goes higher and lower
as you fill it and empty it. You will need an equation to find
out how much water is actually in the pool.

April Arnold and Kevin Miller

*********************************************

Question: In my home and neighborhood there are many things that have
geometric characteristics.

My swimming pool is one thing that has geometric shape. It's
three-d and holds lots of water. There isn't any specific shape or size.
My water bed is very geometric. The bed itself is one shape, but
when you sit on the mattress it takes a whole different shape and keeps
the same volume.

Last but not least we have ice which is also very geometric. It
starts as water, and then you freeze it. When freezing it can take any
form. Then when it melts and turns back into water, it takes back it's
original form.

These are what we feel to be geometric shapes. Thank You.

Gina Torchia and Jeremy McCoy

*********************************************

Question: There are a lot of geometrical shapes around my house. For one I have
a swimming pool shaped like a skeleton key hole.It is a cicle with a
square on it.I have a dog that looks like an oval with a circle head.

Jacob Cox and Larry Patton

*********************************************

Question: 3 THINGS THAT ARE GEOMETRIC AROUND MY HOUSE:

1. MY HOUSE IS GEOMETRIC BECAUSE OF THE WAY IT IS SHAPED.
LIKE TRIANGLES, RECTANGLES, AND SQUARES.

2. LOTS OF OBJECTS IN MY KITCHEN ARE GEOMETRIC BECAUSE
OF THEIR SHAPES, SIZES, VOLUME,AND WEIGHT.

3. AROUND MY HOUSE WE HAVE PROBLEMS AND IN GEOMETRY
WE ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS WE HAVE TO SOLVE.

Marin Munoz

*********************************************

Question:

1.Geometry is graphing because you do lot of graphing in geometry.
2.A house is geometric because it is made with the help of geometry.
3.A clock is geometric because it is like a circle and a circle is in
  geometry.

Dupiner Dhaliwal

*********************************************

Question: What I Think is Geometric in My Surroundings:

There are a whole lot of objects in my house that I consider
"geometric" and here is an example of three:

1.My Backyard is geometric because it is considered to be a right triangle. It
goes from point "a" to point "b" and from point "b" it goes to point "c" that
goes back to point "a". If I were to take the patio side and the fence side
(leg a & leg b) square each then add them together, square root the sum, I
would get the hypotenuse (c squared), otherwords, the length squared for
the other side of the yard.

2.This morning I came to school with three dollars. By the end of the day I only
had a nickel left. For lunch I ate at the Taco Ridge, which cost $1.85. After
P.E., 7th period, I had a soda which cost .60 cents and then after school I had
another soda costing me another .60 cents. Leaving me with a nickel. The
beginning of the day I had $3, by the end, $0.05. This is geometric because
it deals with relations.

3.My kitchen is tiled with 10 tiles horizontal and 10 vertical. This is geometric
because it deals with area and perimemter. The area of the kitchen floor is 100,
the perimeter is 40...This is a perfect square.

Subject: POW Sept. 11-15

The three most geometric objects in my house are books,
clocks, and people. I chose them because they are the most common
things in a house and my neighborhood. They are all geometric to
me because they all have shape of the geometric shapes or they
are all built with geometric shapes either small or big most
everything is made of them.

John Paul Vergara

*********************************************

Question: The three most geometrical things in our neighborhood are a trash can,
car and a house. We picked these three things because a trash can
is round( a geometrical shape) a car has different shapes like a
rectangle. A house is usually shaped more like a square.

Favor Moses and Melissa Lopez

*********************************************

Question: The geometric objects in our houses are that we both have cars,
people, and we have locks in our house. What makes a car geomtric is
because they have different shapes and sizes. What makes a person
geometric is that they have different shapes and sizes. With a lock
you have to have a certain key that fits the lock hole to open it.

Question: One of the most common geometrical shapes in our home and neighbourhood
is the traffic controllers. eg. traffic lights, stop signs and
round abouts. We started by choosing traffic lights because they have
line, shape, angle and symmetry. We then decided to add the traffic signs
as well because they have more interesting shapes such as octagonal stop
signs.

The second one we choose was a bike because it also has these things
and others. The wheel has circles, tessellation on the tread, different angles
in the spokes, and lines. The frame is full of angles and lines and is
basically symmetrical if you look front on.The whole bike has symmetry,
shape and angle.

Our last choice was a stained glass window. These are usually always symmetrical
and have many shapes that tessellate and lines separating colours.

Jenny Ottelein:
The three most geometric objects in my house or neighborhood are the apartment
buildings, a pond, and a Mobil gas station.
The apartments are geometric, first of all, because they are rectangular in
shape. Also they have other geometric objects attached, such as doors, windows,
balconies, porches, bushes, and the many items inside.
The pond is geometric also. Not only because it is round, but it also contains
many geometric objects, as in fish, weeds, and an important one - the perfectly
round rafts we use to float on.
Why Mobil is geometric is because it is a square building with numerous geometric
objects inside. Also, the people everyday are constantly shipping geometric
objects in and out of the building.

Here is my answer for this week's problem:

The three geometric figures in my house that I chose was a book, my desk, and my
refridgerator. I selected a book because it is a good representation of a basic
geometric figure: a square. My desk contains a combination of both squares as
well as rectangles. Lastly, I used a refridgerator which has an outside frame of
a rectangle, the inside has many squares and cubes, and the food that is
contained there represents many various shapes such as circles, ovals, etc.

The three most geometric objects in my neighborhood are a house, tree, and
gazebo.

I chose a house because houses have many different shapes and angles. Most houses
are basically a cube, a rectangular solid, or a combination of both.
They have either pyramid roofs or just plain squares and rectangles. Windows can
be many shapes and sizes. The window panes form more shapes and many right
angles. Angles are all over the house. Obtuse, acute, and right angles make up
the many shapes.

I chose a tree as my second object because I believe "geometric" hasd to do with
angles. The trunk and branches of a tree are a cylindershape, while the many
leaves have shapes of their own. The main reason I decided on a tree is because
of the many angles the branches form.

The last geometric object that I chose was a gazebo. The poles of a gazebo are
made up of cylinders. The benches are rectangular pieces of wood nailed together.
The main reason I picked a gazebo is because of the hexagon pyramid shaped roof.
Each of the six panels are formed by triangles - acute angles. Also, each panel
is shingled with rectangular shaped shingles.

To come to my decision, I first thought of what "geometric" means to me. I then
looked around my house and neighborhood to find the most shapes and angles in one
object.

My three most "geometric objects are all objects that contain many shapes of all
sizes.

1. A door- It may seem simple, but the doors in my house contain many shapes.
They contain rectangles and squares. The knobs are circles. The hinges are
cylinders and the door itself is a rectangle.

2. A chandelier- I have a chandelier in my dining room which is
made up of a variety of different shapes. The light bulbs are ovals and the rest
of the chandelier is made of cylinders, triangles, pyramids, circles, cones, and
lines.

3. A grandfather clock- The grandfather clock in my living room is what I would
consider the most "geometric" of the three objects. The clock, itself, is a
rectangular prism. The face is a circle. The hands are line segments. The clock
is also made up of cylinders, triangles, more circles, and squares.

our wall paper. The reason I chose the plaque because it has a different shape
compaed to most plaques. It is a four sided figure, but the outside border curves
all around. Also the edges curve inward. The reason I chose the quilt was because
the shapes on it were in no definite pattern. On it there was a large star and
inside that there was a smaller star and then a heart inside of that. The reason
I chose our wallpaperwas because it had one design, but it was made up of shapes.
The design was a flower and the top part of it was a heart, the leaves were
ovals, and there was a small circle at the bottom fo a finishing touch.

My definition of a geometric object is something that contains "shapes within
shapes." Here are my three objects: 1.) My fireplace. I chose this to be a
geometric object because it contains many shapes within its rectangular frame. It
has rectangular bricks, circular handles, a square screen, and a triangular base.

2.) My stereo. Like the fireplace, my stereo contains "shapes within shapes."
Because it contains many sections, levels, knobs, buttons, and switches, I found
it to be very geometric.

3.) My mantle clock. It's frame is an octagon, with a circular face. The hands
are line segments, that form an angle because they share a common point. It is
set on a stand that is a pentagon with circular designs inside.

Three Most Geometric Objects

Tissue box- This object is a rectangulatr prism with two sides the same size and
shape and four other sides with the same size and shape. All the angles are right
angles. Two ends are smaller than the four surrounding it. This is a perfect
example of a rectangular prism.

Top of cup- This object is a great example of a circle. It has a radius and a
diameter. Using this, one can figure the circumference using 3.14. Also this
shape, like any other circle has a 180 degree angle.

Wall- this object for me represents a plane. I particular a vertical plane

horizontal-like plane connecting two floors.

The three most geometrical things that I have found in my home are my outside
deck, a set of bookshelves, and a mirror on my living room wall. The deck begins
on the side of my house, and makes its way around the back.
The section on the side of my house is oblong, that of a rectangle. The section
in the back is a sqaure.
A set of bookshelves in my bedroom is the second item. Its height is twice the
measure of its width. It contains five shelves, which are all equal in height.
The final thing is a mirror on my living room wall. It is the shape of an
octagon, and has brass sides.

I think that the three most geometric figures in my house are my window, fan and
globe. The window is shaped like a rectangle and is therefor geometric with a
narrow rectangle at the bottom for the windowsill. The reason why I chose my fan
is because the middle is shaped like a circle and there are four narrow
rectangles attached to it. Also, I chose my globe because it is the perfect
example of a sphere.

The three most "geometric" objects in my house or neighborhood are:

1) clock: It contains two rays which share a common vertex and form various
angles as the rays (hands) rotate.
2)picture frame: It contains four line segments, four right angles, and two
pairs of congruent sides.
3)bicycle wheel: It contains many line segments which share a common vertex
forming various angles within a circle.

The 3 most geometric objects to me are the yield sign at the end of my street, a
cake mix box, and the circular clock in my room. First, the yield sign is
triangular and has three angles that are congruent making it an equalateral
triangle. A triangle best describes a geometric object to me because it has
segments intersecting one another. The cake mix box is a rectangle that has many
right angles, and 6 planes. Most planes are adjcent to another plane. The
circular clock in my bedroom has a diameter, radius, circumference, and radius.
The hands of the clock are rays.

The three most geometric objects in my house or
neighborhood are: a rectangular prism, a cylinder, and a
sphere. First, I chose the rectangular prism because most
of the things in my house are rectangles or squares.
Books, shelves, most major appliances, furniture, boxes,
etc. are all rectangular prisms. Second, I chose the
rectangle, because like the rectangle, cylinders are
abundant. Examples include: cans, a lamp shade, and
recycling containers. Finally, I chose the sphere. Many
things around us are spheres. You can find them all around
you, especially in watching neighborhood sports teams
such as volleyball, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, field
hockey and softball. You might also find them in many
rooms in your house.

The three most geometric things in my house or neighborhood are as follows: 1. My
cornercabinet is shaped like a triangular prism. The glass panes and wood grids
are rectangular. The shelves are triangular and the hinges are rectangles on
either side of cylinders. The edges are line segments and the knobs are spheres
on cylinder bases.
2. My coffeemaker is a rectangular prism on the side and half circles on top and
bottom. The coffee ground container is cyndrical with a right angle for a handle.
The pot itself is a cylinder with a circular band and rectangular handle.
3. My oven has a rectangular prism for a base and a smaller one in back where the
circular knobs and clock are. The front has a rectangular drawer, window, and
handle. The whole oven has line segment edges. The range is rectangular with
circular burners.

One of the most geometric objects in house is my family's station wagon. I choose
this because it has so many shapes. It has circles foe example the wheels and the
steering wheel, and rectangle incluing the bumpers and the dashboard, and it has
squares like the windows. I also chose my backporch because it's entirely made up
of rectangles and squares, for example the windows, the bricks that make up the
walls under the windows, the square designs on the floor, and the doors. The third
thing I chose was my stairs because of its interesting pattern of rectagles.

In my opinion the three most geometric objects in my house are: a square clock, a
showerhead, and the refrigerator. The reason being is that they all stand out as
shapes and contain other geometric ideas. The hands of the clock are rays. The
showerhead has two circles, a cylinder, and any number of points. The
refrigerator contains a number of smaller squares and points.

The three most geometric shapes in my house are a chair, the fireplace, and my
computer. Although they are all very different and are made from different shapes
with different angles all three fulfill my definition of geometric. Geometric
objects are in my definition of objects with parallel lines to objects with many
different shapes together.

My first object is a chair. It has four cylinder legs and a seat that resembles a
square except it has a curved arc at the section where your legs go. The back of
the chair has seven wooden cylinders with a long rectangle attached to the top of
them.

My second object is a fireplace. It is different from the chair, because it is
made of rectangles and squares. All of the vertical and horizontal lines in the
fireplace are parallel. There are no bisecting line segments, but there are eight
places where the "planes" intersect. All angles in this object are 90 degree
angles.

My last and final object is the computer. Unlike the fireplace not all the lines
that make up the computer are parallel, and not all the angles are 90 degrees.
Most lines are, but there are a few that aren't parallel. The "planes" at the
back of the computer are not parallel as well as the planes that make up the
keyboard. There is one half-circle on the top plane at the back of the computer.
This one circle accounts for the difference in shapes between the computer and
the fireplace.

1. My mother's old photo gallery
2. My Grand piano
3. Louvers on the wooden shades in my family room

The first item on my list is the illustrious photo gallery that my mother has
patiently been composing for many years. While the pictures are of most of the
same people (family members), the frames often vary. There are a whole spectrum
of shapes ranging from squares to rectangles to octagons and ovals. In all there
are fifty-seven frames. I would guess that it is the closest thing that to a
family tree that I have.

While the shiny, elegantly curved, red mahogany surface may be deceiving, when it
is opened up a wonderland of geometric shapes is revealed. The first and most
obvious are the black and white keys that essentially form the instrument. Next
there is the array of coils, rounded pegs, Segments, rays strings, hollowed
holes, and the flat planes of the underbelly. All of these geometric forces
combined can dance to the notes of Bach, Stravinsky, Mozart, and countless
others.

The louver shutters are quite plain but they definitely serve a geometric
purpose. There are parallel segments, all with bisectors, many perpendicular
segments, and right angles galore. Each individual louver could even be
considered its own plane.

So as you can see, my house holds many geometric shapes, more than I could count
in a lifetime (even each key I stroke holds a geometric purpose) but it was fun
trying to describe a few.

Problem: What are the three most "geometric" objects in your house or
neighborhood?

The three most "geometric" objects are:
1. Jungle Gym: contains various geometric objects and shapes, such as a circular
tire tube, a ramp used as a slide, and various line segments used as monkey bars.
2. Ladder: contains both parallel and perpendicular line segments forming right
angles.
3. Bicycle wheel: a circular object containing many line segments sharing one
vertex and forming acute angles.

One of the three most geometric objects in my house is first my clock because it
has angles, segments, rays, numbers, circles, arcs, radius, diameter, and points.
The second most geometric object in my house is my remote control because it
contains numerous geometric shapes such as squares, rectangles, and circles. My
third most geomtric object are the tiles on my kitchen floor the tiles are
perfect squares which can form diamonds, triangles, rectangles and a large square
when all pictured together.
