Subject: calculators in k-2 class

I use a paper calculator to teach how the real one works then have the children race the real calculator. I have one child roll two dice and add them up in his head. The second child adds up the numbers off the dice on his calculator. The children that know the dotmath system can beat the calculator. This game is lots of fun and helps the children understand they can add faster than the calculator. For more information you can go the the site at http://dotmath.tripod.com/ Owen
