Try bringing in a few lams to put in the corner. If you are reading to the class then you could try to switch off the main lights and put on the lamps. It gives it a more homely feel. Try also having a few plants around too. Maybe some of the pupils could be in charge of watering them? Try burning incense at the beginning of class before the kids come in. Make sure it doesn't set any firm alarms off though. Have soem posters of heros that the kids like in the room. Examples, Che Guevara, Homer Simpson, Mohammad Ali, etc. Someone who has achieved something awe-inspiring and inspirational.
