Is there a difference between 1 divided "by" 1/2 and 1 divided "into" 1/2? Would you write the problem the same way for both of these questions and the solution being 2 pieces? I was told by a math professor that 1 divided by 1/2 would make 2 wholes. One divided into 1/2 would make 2 halves (pieces).
