I am having a debate with a colleague about the history, creation and teaching of fractals. He says fractals came originally from social psychology; I've seen them only in mathematics. Does 'fractal' refer only to patterns that repeat themselves identically (except in size), or can fractal systems evolve and change? If so, what are some examples of evolving systems? |
