Hi Cale,

The part of your question about imaginary numbers brought to mind a question
another teacher asked us about the use of complex numbers in engineering and
in physics.  A friend of mine, a mathematician at the University of
California, Davis, who does research in the complex numbers, gave us a
response which, I believe, would be of interest to you.
