I was born and raised in Western Maryland, the eldest of four children. At an early age I was fascinated by the beauty and challenge of Mathematics and have spent most of my life pursuing its mysteries in some form or fashion. Upon graduation in 1973 with a B.S. in math, I taught for a short while at a private school/group home on the Chesapeake. A few years later, I was hired by Bendix Field Engineering, under contract to the Navy at NESTED near Patuxent River NAS, as a reliability engineer. Our division was responsible for the design, fabrication, installation, and testing of communications systems and I got to see mathematics in the "real world"!
After taking time out to raise three children of my own, and relocation to Georgia, I decided to get back into teaching. I am now teaching Geometry at Shiloh High School in Gwinnett County and loving every minute! I was recently trained as a Lab Coordinator for our FTE MacLab and was invited to become part of a county-wide K-12 Math Alternative Assessment Committee. I'm very excited about my current opportunities for technology (especially Internet) usage in my classroom!
Onward and Upward, respectfully, Kris Fitzgerald
