Extension Activities: Have students assemble flags using tanagram shapes.
Have students create flags using their choice
of colors and
shapes.
Have students create pyramids using toothpicks
and clay or
blocks, perhaps self selected manipulatives.

Pattern Recognition: - Show students mudcloth or a picture of mudcloth or kente cloth.

they see. Encourage them
to recognize the repeating shapes and

to paint a pattern on burlap or construction
strips
