This is My Box!
Using grid
paper measuring 25 x 20 cm, construct an open-topped box which will contain
the maximum (whole) number of centimeter cubes.
- Organize your findings (spreadsheets are great for this).
- Describe your procedure.
Demonstrate how you know your box holds the greatest possible number of cubes.
Would the optimum dimensions be the same if you were filling the box with 1/2-centimeter
cubes?
Possible extension:
- If you are not limited to centimeter cubes, or 1/2-cm cubes,
can the volume be maximized even further?
